About the Friends of Oak Bluffs
The Friends of Oak Bluffs began in the early 1970’s as a small group of dedicated people headed by the late David Healey. The hat was passed among the community for startup donations, and the beautification group was born.
The many accomplishments of this dedicated group along with the help of the Oak Bluffs Highway and Parks Department are evident throughout the Town. Over the years, beautification projects have included: flowers throughout the Town in planters and hanging baskets; decorations for the Healey Square Christmas tree; fundraising for new sidewalks, improvements to the bandstand, and wading pool
in Ocean Park. Benches have been dedicated and placed throughout town; bricks have been placed around the bandstand in honor, memory, or in celebration of loved ones; commemorative medallions have been placed around town of lampposts.
The Friends of Oak Bluffs continue to work toward creating a beautiful community and fostering pride.
